Classical Carnatic Music Program

The Center for the Study of Hindu Traditions (ChiTra) at UF in association with SPICMACAY-UF presents a Classical Carnatic Music Program by:

Gayathri Venkataraghavan (vocal)

Mysore Srikanth (violin)

Sivaraman (mridangam)

Manasi Prasad (kanjira)

Gayathri Venkataraghavan is one of the most sought-after Carnatic music performers in India and abroad. Gayathri’s unique voice has been hailed by the Press as one of the richest in Carnatic music, capable of traversing octaves with ease. Known for her strong and melodious voice with perfect pitch alignment and for her large repertoire of songs, she has performed in important venues in major festivals across India and around the globe.

Mysore Srikanth, an incredibly talented musician and violin accompanist, has played alongside several leading vocalists. He has travelled across the globe performing in important festivals and has recorded many albums with renowned artists in genres like Carnatic Classical, and World Music. His music for Deep Relaxation & Meditation has the distinct privilege of occupying the #1 spot on Apple’s World Music category.

Sivaraman (percussion) is the son of the eminent musician, Sethalapathy Sri S.R. Balasubramanian, and comes from a family engaged with Carnatic music. Sri Sivaraman’s dexterous playing is renowned. He has travelled to many countries, accompanying various artists. He has also performed jugalbandi and fusion concerts with artists like Ustad Zakir Hussain.
